Ayurveda and weight loss

While ayurveda’s primary purpose is that of healing, its medicinal practices can also

assist with weight loss. Ayurveda takes on a holistic approach to lose weight that

includes diet, lifestyimagele recommendations, external massage based treatments and

detoxification procedures.1. Diet and movement

 Eat a light evening meal of easy-to-digest foods.

 Eat the largest meal of the day at lunch and include a wide variety of warm,

cooked foods.

 Drink hot water with ginger and lemon, or herbal teas frequently throughout

the day.

 Avoid leftovers and foods that are highly processed, packaged, or canned.

Additional dietary tips are:

 Eat fresh cooked food

H Use mild spices and avoid oily food

 Add fresh fruits and vegetables to the diet

 Do not eat or snack between meals

 Eat three simple meals a day

 The amount of food you eat should not exceed the quantity, which you

could hold in your two hands cupped together

 Avoid processed food as much as possible

 Eat slowly and quietly in a calm atmosphere

 Do not cook the same food twice

 Try and avoid refrigerating and reheating the food.

 Drink a big glass of hot water (around 40 degrees Centigrade) once during

mid morning and again at mid afternoon

 Avoid sleeping during the day. If you need to sleep, take a short nap before

lunch

 Eat at regular intervals, Do not skip any meal unless there are medical

reasons.

 Eat spices in balance (Indus valley dosha balancing Sambar and Rasam

powders) / herbs as – Turmeric, Cinnamon, Ginger, Garlic, Pepper, Cumin

 Avoid – Heavy, spices, oily, rich calorie preparations, refined cereals,

white flour, cheese, curds, whole milk, red meat, pork, beef, Potato, egg

plant, mushroom, tomato.

Exercise! It improves digestion, metabolism, elimination, complexion, muscle tone

and strength, and bone density. It also helps normalize weight. According to

Ayurveda, burning fat is much easier when you match your workouts with your

specific body type, or dosha.

2. Detox tea

Ayurvedic detox tea is a practical way to incorporate a weight loss measure in your

everyday routine. The ingredients are easily found in your local Whole Foods or

grocery store.

Boil 4 to 5 cups of water in the morning. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the following seeds to

the water and continue to let it boil for about 5 minutes with the lid on.

 Whole cumin seeds

 Whole coriander seeds

 Whole fennel seeds

Strain out the seeds and pour the liquid into a thermos. Make the tea fresh every

morning, place it in a thermos, and take small sips of it throughout the day. It is best

to drink it warm or hot.

3. Massage

Udvartana is an ayurvedic massage method that encourages weight loss. This is the

most famous body treatment in Ayurveda to lose weight and is a unique

combination of organic ayurvedic ingredients where the use herbal powders (in
